Code of Conduct

We adhere to the golden rule: treat others the way you would like to be treated. We’re all here to grow and to have fun as a chess community, so please check your egos at the door. If at any point, you are made uncomfortable by the actions or words of another person, please let either Spenser or Hannah know about it!

In regards to venues:

  • Please be aware of and respect the laws imposed by the city and commonwealth of said venue. If you are unclear, please ask.
  • We also ask that all be aware of the rules of any venue we are visiting or have been invited to and respect them as well.

To put some finer points out there— Please leave alcohol inside unless otherwise posted. Drinks are not allowed outside at GWARbar. Please be patient with your servers or bartenders. And of course, please be considerate and tip. All of us reflect upon the club as a whole.

We will not tolerate racism, sexism, transphobia, or any toxic behavior. We will also not tolerate disrespect to the venues that invite us into their establishments. If any of the above noted should become an issue, it will be reviewed by the board and an individual may be asked to refrain from participating in our events. Please keep all interactions with fellow members respectful and positive. We ask that you be especially upstanding in the presence of children.
